WATCH OUT!!!

Chelsea lost 0-3 to Manchester city, that coupled with the Eva Carneiro controversy has meant that the club has gone into complete meltdown. Just 2 months after being crowned champions, Chelsea have become the butt of all jokes
As a chelsea fan though, I have no doubt that we have THE right man to guide us through this tough period, Jose Mourinho thrives on pressure, last season he would've been fired if he hadn't won the league and he proceeded to dominate the league. This season chelsea had no one doubting us until the first game was played because the general consensus was that chelsea were only going to get better.
What the last fortnight has done is removed the feel good jovial kumbaya atmosphere at the club, and created a sense of panic. That's good for chelsea because mourinho is the master of the  siege mentality, all the media is doing right now is playing into his hands, this is what he likes, this is what he does. Worse for chelsea would've been a deaw with city and no media reaction. All this is going to do is serve as a wake up call.
Watch out now I'd say, you've given the killer his gun, you've given mourinho his siege mentality

A broadsheet man in a tabloid world

The world's quick these days, too quick for my liking. There's this unexplainable tendency to accumulate everything without ever taking stock of and enjoying what you already have.
There's no poise in anything, everything's supposed to be hustled for. There's this yearning for short term gains, with absolutely no thought about its long term consequences. You're supposed to forget about people too easily, this I never understand and probably never will. Call me old fashioned, but friendships and other relationships mean something to me and I can't just let go of them. It's not a switch that can be flicked. Everyone tries to view themselves as empathic demi gods, but from the inside they're nothing but apathic monsters
Maybe and probably even, I'm deluded to think that people who care exist, but we all live in hope, until then I'll probably remain the man who fell in love too easily and fell out of it too slowly
The man frozen in time :)

The name's Federer , Roger Federer

Roger Federer has made 35 semi finals in his career , think about what you just read and then read it again to confirm . Roger Federer is a gift to tennis and a very precocious one at that
Rewind to 2003 , Sampras retired , Agassi on the wane . Tennis needed a new superstar , someone who could carry the burden of tennis and Carry it gracefully , in stepped Roger Federer into the spotlight and took tennis to another level
Nadal wouldn't be half the player he is today if it wasn't for Federer , Djoko wouldn't be such a good hard court player if it weren't for his matches with Federer in his early parts , Roger Federer is the face of tennis and a gentleman .
There's never any arrogance about him , just class , Swiss and him just suit so much together
Today , he defeated another Swiss in a typically elegant and in parts resilient to , his resiliency is quite underrated IMO
We're not going to see another like him . Nadal may win more grand slams than him , but there'll never be someone even like Federer . He's the best there was the best there is and the best their'll ever be

2014 NBA draft

The 2014 NBA draft took place on 26th June in Brooklyn. This was perhaps the deepest draft in the NBA since 1996 when Kobe Bryant of all people went at number 13
Cleveland get their man
For once Cleveland made the sensible pick and took the player with the most upside and the player who suited them best
Cleveland have a lot of scores and Jabari Parker would've been such a bad fit because as it is Irving and waiters fight over their roles in the Cleveland offence. Joel Embiid was probably the best player in the draft but he got hurt and when a big man hurts their back and foot , warning signs are there
Wiggins gives them elite athleticism and elite defence . Imagine Cleveland against say Indiana pacers , who guards Paul George in crunch time . This question would've been unanswered last season but not anymore as there's wiggins

Lakers get lucky
In my opinion the lakers which is the team I support got extremely lucky to get Julias Randle at the 7th pick . I liked it when he said that the teams that passed on him will regret it , that's the kind of mentality the lakers need , they need urgency and they need someone who can contribute straight away , Randle fits those bills absolutely perfectly . I can easily see him average 15 and 8 in his rookie season

Milwaukee get their man
The bucks needed a go to scorer and they got one it's as simple as that , I can see him scoring 20ppg in his rookie season , he's that ready offensively

The end of the rondo era ??
The celtics picked Marcus smart when they had the chance to take Randle . I think Randle would've been better . A backcourt of rondo and smart would be to one dimensional to work
This could mean that rondo is traded which I think would be the wrong move unless they can get Kevin love in return which would be AWESOME

Utah made a smart pick
I think the jazz made a really smart pick taking Dante exum at 5 . He's probably the best point guard in this draft and will be ready to contribute from day one . He's got amazing athleticism and more importantly is a two way player
A back court of him and Trey Burke can work wonders as they're. Very different players

The new Hakeem ??
Joel Embiid was probably the best player in the draft . You rarely get a 7 footer who's so nimble footed ( no pun intended ) and good at midrange . Although the sixers made the right choice in selecting him I think they're headed in the wrong direction .
They've picked an injured big man in the last 2 drafts with high picks , now it's ok to select a player with lots of upside but you've gotta be careful not to foster a losing mentality in the franchise
They could've easily picked a Randle or a Gordon who would've contributed from day one . I reckon they risk their players leaving or creating a negative atmosphere in the dressing room if they keep on losing

Chicago did extremely well to acquire Doug Mcdermott as he addresses the shooting concerns
The magic IMO have gotten a forward version of Russell Westbrook . Aaron Gordon can become the next Blake griffin if nurtured well , also elfrid Payton gives them a floor general but a backcourt of him and oladipo is gonna have a problem shooting the ball and risks being to one dimensional

Morality vs Success

Luis Suarez against Italy in the 2014 World Cup bit a player (Giorgio Chiellini) . This is the third time he's commited the offence . His actions obviously give the game a bad name and spoil the vibe of probably one of the most enjoyable World Cups ever
FIFA , to their credit almost instantly slapped a 4 month ban on him prohibiting him from any football activity . Now on the face of it , he can't really have a defence because it's his third time and there's video evidence
Uruguay have given Suarez their undisputed backing and judging by the reaction on twitter the Liverpool fans have done the same . I also think that his ban was justified but the Uruguay fans IMO have enough reason to back their guy , he's their best player , talisman and their game changer , ditto same for Liverpool . Now , fiercely backing their players even when they're facing consequences for such deplorable actions may be seen as morally wrong but look at the results, even in previous cases both Liverpool and Uruguay have backed Luis Suarez to the hilt and he's richly paid them back , Uruguay for the size of their country have massively overachieved and Liverpool were within a Steven gerrard slip of winning the premier league
Now let's look at another case , that of John terry . He's been fairly controversial as well but whereas Chelsea have always backed him to the hilt , England have washed their hands off him and forced him to retire . The difference in results is there for all to see , for Chelsea terry was probably the best central defender in the league last season and as far as England go , in their World Cup campaign all they lacked was an organiser of a defence in the ilk of John terry

I'm not saying Uruguay and Liverpool are right to back their man , I'm just imagining what they're thinking process is , maybe for players who contribute so much you have to take the criticism for backing him and as I said results do not lie Uruguay have been much more successful than England recently and that I think is a direct result of them fiercely backing their players . I personally agree to the ban but part of me thinks what England's state would've been had they taken the bait and selected John terry

The greatest show on earth

The world bloody cup started , and with it started a sequence of ignoring everything else(including sleep)
The World Cup can best be described as a festival of football , a festival that lasts for a month and invigorates football fans and creates new ones instantly
The South American teams dominate
Perhaps the biggest surprise of this World Cup was the failure of so many European nations
Big nations like England Spain Italy all failed miserably and a trend emerged
, The South American teams , all of them almost played out of their skins , even though they didn't have the star players , they were collectively greater than the sum of their parts
Chile were expected to do well but no one expected them to completely press and blow away the Spanish tiki taka game , Alexis Sanchez and Arturo Vidal played like men possessed and completely ran the Spanish midfield an defence ragged
Columbia were dark horses before the tournament but still I had my doubts about them because they were missing Radamel falcao . To my surprise they completely dominated their group and the severely underrated James Rodriguez emerged as probably the best number 10 of the tournament
Uruguay started out with a whimper against Costa Rica but against the much fancied Italy and England they were awesom , they were like a well drilled tournament team which defended well and left the attacking bit to Suarez and cavani , which is fair enough
Suarez amazing in these two games but he got hungry and gave the tournament a negative spin when he bit chiellini on the shoulder and IMO his ban was spot on
Not to harsh not to lenient

The big stars came to play
The last World Cup was characterised by the failure of star players but in this World Cup the star players have come to play to say the least
Messi Neymar Benzema Rodriguez Suarez all have had awesome tournaments up till now . Even cristiano ronaldo has been good but it's just that his team has been below par
It almost looks like a Madeira team would beat the Portuguese national team

All in a it's been an amazing World Cup and one can only hope it carries on this way
